Building Capacity - Good Practice from Three Organizations

The Resilient Organisations Project extension of 2010 measured the adaptive capacity of ten Climate South East member organisations using the PACT Self-Assessment Process. The results of this analysis provided Climate South East with a detailed understanding of the capacity held within a range of the member organisations who participated, and helped us to identify where the most useful case studies could be found. We were also grateful that organisations showed a keen willingness to share their experience.

This document contains stories from Hastings Borough Council, Kent County Council, and Natural England, each of which was shown to have relevant experience and expertise to share about its activities as described by one of the PACT "pathways" (for more information about the PACT framework and its components, click here). Aside from providing useful information from which others can learn, these narratives demonstrate the practical application of PACT by showing what activity on a particular "pathway" at a particular "response level" actually looks like.

The three PACT pathways included here are "Working Together," "Learning," and "Agents of Change" (champions). These were selected because analysis has shown them to be particular areas of difficulty for organisations across sectors. For each, there are at least four examples of good practice from the relevant organisation.
