Seacourt Environmental Printers

Based in Oxford, Seacourt is a design and print company that shows a clear determination on producing printed products by means of the most environmentally sympathetic processes. It demonstrated the environmental achievements that can be made by a small company in a highly competitive industry.

A key success that Seacourt was recognised for was its investment in new technology and skills that allowed it to change its printing process to waterless offset. This process has seen the company significantly reduce water use and slash its volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by 98%. The company is now seeking alternative ink systems to further reduce its VOC emissions.

In addition, Seacourt has introduced systems that result in almost all of its packaging and waste materials being recycled. It has also invested in the installation of energy efficient lighting and lighting sensors. In addition to making its own significant advances, Seacourt is also stimulating positive environmental change in its customers and suppliers.

In honor of its achievements, Seacourt was awarded a Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE) Environmental Leadership Award in July 2009 and a Major Commendation from Richard Lambert, Director-General of the CBI.

Commenting on its achievement at the BCE Awards Jim Dinnage, Chairman of Seacourt, said: ‘We take our responsibility to the environment very seriously at Seacourt. I am very proud of our team and the good work that they do to continually raise our performance in this area - and indeed, challenge standards in our industry."
