Climate SE AGM September 15

Our first AGM as a Community Interest Company will be held on September 15 at the Friends’ Meeting House in Brighton. See the agenda here.

The AGM promises to be a dynamic and useful event for everyone. Ed Gillespie of Futerra Sustainability Communications will open the day with a thought-provoking talk about how we communicate the climate challenge. In these days when the economy, wars, terrorism, and resurgent climate skeptics are all vying for our attention, how can we make sure that the important messages about climate change are getting through?

Alastair Brown of UKCIP will talk about the relevance of the new UK Climate Projections for the South East. Workshops will assess partners’ needs in using the projections to support forward planning and decision-making.

There are six places up for election on the CSE Executive Committee. We encourage all partners to put themselves forward. While our new Directors will handle the administrative aspects of the new company, members of the Executive Committee will have the chance to steer the programme and influence how regional climate change action should be taken forward. They will also help determine how the partnership obtains and directs funding and support to our partners. If you would like to stand for election to the Executive, or have questions about what the role entails, please don’t hesitate to .

A café session with the working group chairs will give you the opportunity to find out more about the sector-based projects and discussions your colleagues are involved in. You can sign up to take part in these groups, suggest new projects and groups, or tell us about the issues you think regional and national bodies need to take account of.

Bring a stand. There will be plenty of room for partners to have stands at the AGM, and we encourage you to bring along banners, leaflets, or displays to tell everyone about the important work that you’re doing.

This is your partnership so make it work for you!

To book a place at the AGM, please letting us know:

* Your name and organisation
* Whether you will bring a stand
* Whether you plan to attend the workshops
* Whether you will have lunch with us (any dietary restrictions?)
